My Training style
Our bodies are complicated machines and call for different training strategies at different times essentially all working towards an end goal. A session might entail postural alignment using mobility and movement corrective techniques, bodyweight animal flow movements for a full body integrated workout or utilising barbells and kettlebells for a progressive approach to strength and conditioning. Whatever the style it aims to be fun!
My fitness philosophy
I see the fitness industry making a shift to a more balanced approach. A good personal trainer should educate and motivate you while providing you with every tool you need to succeed. Your time in the gym should be spent improving your performance so you can experience life to it’s fullest... whilst looking and feeling damn good in the process!
My Favourite Workout
Upper body push/pull workout using body weight or kettlebells!

"I have trained with Steve Riley for 100 sessions and want to let you know that he has been a fantastic trainer. Steve's knowledge is impeccable. He can always find small tweaks to improve lifting technique, or causes of issues e.g. tight muscles. There is no exercise or stretch that Steve doesn't know about. Over the course of my training we have covered calisthenics, kettlebell training, power-lifting, weightlifting, free weights, machines plus lots of stretching and activation exercises. He has made several programs for me which have been very suited to my goals and have progressive overload. He is also great to talk to and is always in a friendly and energetic mood. This makes him fun to train with (except when doing sled pushing but no trainer can make this fun). He is always punctual to our sessions and will often go a little overtime if he has no other commitments. He has also organised for myself and another client of his to partake in a Spartan Race which was greatly appreciated. I have made great improvements and have found my love for the gym and weightlifting. I have Steve to thank for this. Steve Riley - Five Stars - Would Recommend."
"I have worked with personal trainers before starting with Steve. They helped get me through rough spots in my training. My plan was to spend 6-12 weeks with Steve, learn some new skills and move on. Almost six years later, I’m still training with Steve every week and still learning. My cardio and flexibility have always been fine. Strength was never a passion, but I actually enjoy it now and I’m much stronger in my 50s than I was in my 40s. To get there took some commitment on my part, but I wouldn’t have succeeded if I didn’t have a knowledgeable personal trainer with brilliant observations skills and endless patience to work on the small components of complex movements, problems that have been holding me back for years. I’ve always felt challenged, never pushed or unsafe. Steve has a great sense of humour – very helpful during a tough training session."

"I met Steve at a weekly bootcamp that he conducted with a fellow personal trainer. Here, I observed his calmness, patience and motivational skills. In my weekly gym session, Steve targets specific muscle groups. He understands my body and has assisted me to gain strength and improve posture. He has made me more aware of my calorie intake in relation to my output. He also applies methods that he has learned at recent courses. Additionally, I was fortunate enough to travel to Japan with Steve and fellow personal trainers to experience a new culture while having the privilege of daily personal training sessions. I thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity. Steve is very accommodating when I need to change session times. He is friendly, approachable and even empathetic when I’m totally spent from a workout. I gladly recommend Steve as a Personal Trainer to give the motivation to achieve one’s training goals."
"There are so many personal trainers available these days. Different people offer different methods of keeping fit. Occasionally, you find a trainer who is special, someone who motivates you, who pushes you and can see what you can become with time and dedication. I am so very lucky to have found Steve Riley. I enjoy our workouts so much. Steve always mixes them up so it feels new each session. I am constantly learning about my body and ways to stretch myself. But mostly Steve is known for his charismatic personality. He has a unique way of reaching out to people and bringing out the best in all his clients. He weaves his special approach to fitness so that you look forward to each session. He is creative, fun and encouraging and optimistic. My favourite days of the week are when I get to work out with Steve!"
